Mr. Santa Cruz has been actively involved in the financial sector in Latin America since 1994. He began his career as an Investment Manager in the M&A Department in the Bank of Nova Scotia and then as a financial sector analyst with Duff & Phelps (fixed income) and Bear Stearns & Co. (equity, sales side). In 2000 Mr. Santa Cruz joined Darby Overseas Investments, Ltd. as a Vice President in its private equity practice, specializing in financial sector investments. In his last two years at Darby, Mr. Santa Cruz participated in the valuation of NPL portfolios in Mexico and Central America. In 2005 Mr. Santa Cruz co-founded MexDAM to pursue distressed investment opportunities on behalf of NY and London-based hedge funds. He has since become a serial entrepreneur, founding Wahaka Mezcal (a brand of small batch, artisanal spirit) and investing in technology driven companies (WIP and Dish2Go). Mr. Santa Cruz earned a BBA from Baylor University, an MBA from McGill University and is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA).
